Drawer sessions & the Z-report

Open with a float, close to the penny, and know where every dollar went.

Opening

Start a drawer session with a counted float. Every cash movement from then on — sales, refunds, paid-outs, rain-check redemptions — ties to that session and the operator who did it.

Closing

Closing asks you to count the drawer and shows the Z-report:

  • expected cash vs counted (over/short, to the penny),
  • sales by tender and by category,
  • refunds, discounts, tips,
  • offline sales that were rung during an internet outage and synced back — they're listed separately so a "weird" cash number always has its explanation.

The drawer will refuse to close while offline sales are still waiting to sync — that's deliberate, so the count never lies.

When something's off

Reports → Money integrity re-derives every day's money from the underlying ledger and flags anything that doesn't reconcile. If the drawer is short $20, you'll know which session, which operator, and which sales to look at.
