When the internet drops
The register keeps selling — cash only, queued safely, synced automatically.
Rural courses lose internet. The register is built for it.
What happens
Within about 40 seconds of losing connection, the register shows an offline banner and switches to cash-only mode:
- Cash sales keep working. They queue on the device with the exact time they were rung.
- Card payments, tips-by-display, discounts, rewards, tabs and customer attach are disabled — anything that needs the server to answer truthfully.
When it comes back
The queue replays automatically. Each queued sale carries a one-time id, so a flaky connection can never create a duplicate — if the same sale tries to land twice, the server keeps exactly one. Synced offline sales:
- appear in sales history marked offline,
- count in the correct drawer session (the one they were rung on),
- show as their own section on the Z-report.
If something can't sync
A sale the server rejects lands in the Needs attention drawer on the register instead of vanishing. And the drawer can't be closed while sales are still queued — the count would be wrong.
Tip: the offline banner clearing is your signal that everything has synced. No action needed.
